New telecoms infrastructure

Establishment and roll-out of new national networks for mobile communication (as GSM, UMTS, LTE, TETRA, DVB-H, and Wireless Broadband systems) often have to take place within strict deadlines. This necessitates intensive and coinciding activities throughout the project.

Ramboll has been involved in network rollouts ever since the infancy of mobile systems in the beginning of the 1980ies. In combination with more recent services such as network optimisation, renewable energy solutions for sites, supply of towers and poles, indoor neutral host solutions, etc. we offer a complete palette for operators worldwide.

Masts and towers

The massive rollout of mobile networks, especially in emerging markets, calls for a large number of new towers and masts. These structures and their foundations constitute the major part of the site costs.

In response to this, we are able to supply opimised telecom structures based on our more than 65 years of experience and innovation. Our designs require much less steel to produce and need smaller foundations than the typical telecom towers used, so in addition to being cost-effective, our solutions mean reduced CO2 emissions. These are manufactured in India, Thailand, China and Poland under strict screening programmes ensuring compliance with high quality demands and our Code of Conduct.

Management and operation

Once networks have been built, the management, operation and maintenance is a key issue.

In close cooperation with the operators, we have developed modern and user friendly software systems for the management, operation and maintenance. We conduct inspection and maintenance programmes on a wide range of telecommunication structures in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Especially the condition and capacity of existing structures have become important issues for our customers, and we are involved in several thousand site surveys and capacity checks.
