Environment

As human beings, we rely on the nature around us to supply basic necessities such as food and water. Global challenges including urbanisation, climate change and extreme weather conditions make the need for preserving our natural resources increasingly evident. The management of water resources, for instance, has become a global concern and a priority for future sustainable development.

In a sector that deeply affects the world we live in, Ramboll is active in fighting poverty and improving lives.

Surveys and assessments

The success of a project is often determined by its integration with the wider environment and its attractiveness to the local community, regulators, sponsors and other stakeholders. Increasingly, the environmental and social dimensions of projects are decisive for their implementation.

Our consultants are scientists and engineers with expertise within a wide range of areas, carrying out sampling and laboratory analyses of all environmental parameters, assessment of environmental and social impacts as well as mitigation and management of activities that may impact the environment negatively. We actively contribute to setting the environmental agenda in Europe. We bridge the gap between the private sector and the public sector, and we pride ourselves on providing unbiased, independent expertise.

Planning and visualisation

Sustainable land use planning and development is about creating possibilities and environments which enable us to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives without damaging the opportunities for future generations to do the same.

By working hand in hand from the earliest stages of a project, our experts are able to make the best of their scientific understanding of both natural and urban environments. We combine advanced modelling techniques with legislative expertise and commercial experience – thus creating plans and projects that work with the environment around us while improving it.

Urban water management

The global demand for water services is rising rapidly. The demand is driven by several factors, including worldwide population growth, urbanisation, industry, and irrigation. In North Western Europe, this demand is furthered by climate changes in the form of heavy rain storms and more stringent EU legislation aimed at managing flood risks and improving water quality.

One of our spearhead services is urban water management. With our multidisciplinary expertise and experience from both developing and industrialised markets, we are uniquely qualified to undertake the water-related challenges faced by our customers and society at large. We have the capacity to support a comprehensive service offering, regardless of the size and complexity of the projects.
