Subsea completion, pipeline & riser design

Ramboll has contributed to the delivery of energy during the last 30 years by designing pipelines and subsea systems.

Our engineering experience builds on a thorough understanding of key parameters for offshore structures: soil and water conditions, platform geometry and movement, and hydrodynamic loads.

Pipelines, flowlines and transmission systems

Ramboll has designed about 80 percent of all pipelines in the Danish North Sea. Our pipeline department provides engineering studies at all stages of a project’s lifecycle, including the design of complex infield flowlines and large transmission systems. The design and tie-in of pipeline structures also form part of our service portfolio.

Ramboll’s innovative design analysis programme

To control the challenges posed by the thermal buckling of high-pressure, high-temperature (HP/HT) pipelines – typically a problem when soil conditions are poor –Ramboll uses its in-house design analysis software GOLIAT to verify pipeline expansion and freespans. This tool significantly helps to minimise construction costs.

Ramboll contributed this service on the 1200 kilometre Ormen Lange gas pipeline.
