Onshore pipelines

Pipeline system design requires careful planning. Selecting the optimum pipeline route with consideration to the overall length, right-of-way access, environment, existing use of the land, population intensity, and existing infrastructure is not an easy task.

We assist in route planning and environmental impact assessment

A key factor to successful interaction with authorities is detailed knowledge of national and local legislation. By working closely together with our many regional offices, we obtain considerable insight in the legislative requirements on both national and international levels. Our assistance includes planning the right transportation route, advising on the requirements of the local and international legislation or obtaining authority approvals including preparation of environmental impact assessment and geotechnical assessment of the soil conditions.

HSE and authority management

We are well aware of the fact that our clients must comply with divergent HSE regimes, and that the important task of obtaining permits and manage authorities is costly, complicated and time-consuming.

Ramboll has in-depth experience with authority management and authority approval procedures from large-scale projects in the oil and gas sector. Our expertise covers all phases of the approval process, both in national and international environments, including the requirements under the Espoo Convention's regulations for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) in a transboundary Context.

However, Ramboll has a strong capacity to ensure ongoing adherence to our industry’s ever-evolving regulatory frameworks and thereby reduce the compliance costs. An important outcome of our risk assessment is a proposal for risk reducing measures and protection of the pipeline system.

As part of our core compentencies, we design onshore pipeline systems, compressor stations and meter & regulator stations. Since the early 1980s we have designed complete instrument and process control system solutions.
