German citizens working in Denmark

German citizens Christoph Pahl and Stefan Soost work in the Piping & Mechanical department at the head office in Denmark.

Why did you come to Denmark?

“It was mostly a coincidence” Christoph explains. “I saw an ad in the paper and came to Esbjerg for an interview. It really opened my eyes to how big the offshore industry is in Denmark. Who knew that offshore has such a major influence on the Danish export?”. “In my case it was because I heard about the Danish working conditions and the company from Christoph,” Stefan smiles.

There are several nationalities in the department and the informal Danish tone – compared to some other countries – can sometimes be one of the most surprising challenges.

“There is a relaxed tone about your working hours and holiday planning. If you have special requests you ask your team leader or the Director of the department. Ramboll trusts that you are able to manage your own time,” they explain. “Working hours are flexible, we have a great canteen, you can get an Internet connection as part of your salary and so on. There are lots of benefits that are just part of the company culture – or perhaps just Danish.”
