Offshore industry potential?

Interested in working in Denmark?

Did you know that Denmark is the only EU country to export oil and gas? The offshore industry is big business in Denmark and we are always looking for more skilled engineers and technicians to join us.

Teamwork is an important part of our work

English is a prerequisite for our industry, but you don’t need to speak Danish in order to work for us. In fact we currently employ more than 15 different nationalities at our head office in Esbjerg.

Christoph Pahl and Stefan Soost are both German citizens working at Ramboll Oil & Gas’ head office in Esbjerg – both work in our Piping & Mechanical department.

Why did you come to Denmark?

“It was mostly a coincidence” Christoph explains. “I saw an ad in the paper and came to Esbjerg for an interview. It really opened my eyes to how big the offshore industry is in Denmark. Who knew that offshore has such a major influence on the Danish export?”. “In my case it was because I heard about the Danish working conditions and the company from Christoph,” Stefan smiles.

What convinced you to join Ramboll?

“I like the idea of working for a company which is owned by a foundation. Of course Ramboll aims to earn money, all companies do, but the money is spent on consolidating the company,” Christoph explains.

“The general tone in our department and the ‘flat’ hierarchy in the organisation in general is really nice. I basically manage my own projects – with the help of one of my senior colleagues, of course. We often work in teams, sometimes within the Piping & Mechanical department and sometimes across several departments depending on the project,” Stefan says. “The projects are always challenging and I have worked on both mechanical, piping and firewater projects. The variation is what makes my job interesting”.

There are several nationalities in the department and the informal Danish tone – compared to some other countries – can sometimes be one of the most surprising challenges.

“There is a relaxed tone about your working hours and holiday planning. If you have special requests you ask your team leader or the Director of the department. Ramboll trusts that you are able to manage your own time,” they explain. “Working hours are flexible, we have a great canteen, you can get an Internet connection as part of your salary and so on. There are lots of benefits that are just part of the company culture – or perhaps just Danish.”

If you would like to know more about working and living in Denmark, please do not hesitate to send one of our German engineers an e-mail.

Unsolicited applications can be uploaded to our database. Our HR department will review your application and forward it to relevant department directors.
